KNF(Korea Nuclear Fuel), one of the subsidiary companies of KEPCO(Korea Electric Power Corporation), has an advanced design and manufacturing technology and lots of experience in the nuclear fuel supply and the related services for all the nuclear power plants in Korea since 1989. KNF also started producing CANDU fuel in 1998. Thus KNFC is the only company in the world which fabricates PWR fuel together with CANDU fuel. As of the end of 2007, KNFC has successfully performed initial and reload core designs for 16 PWR reactors in Korea and as of the end of 2007, punctually provided KHNP with about 4,418ton-U of PWR fuels and 3,724ton-U CANDU fuels.

KNF has been developing

KNF has high quality man-power resources for reactor core design, safety analysis and fuel engineering to perform the core design and the transition core analysis, and produce various types of nuclear fuels to meet customer's need. Furthermore, R&D activities on the fuel design and manufacturing have been continuously performed in order to enhance the nuclear fuel safety, reliability and economy. Development of advanced nuclear fuel is in progress to provide both present and future customers more operational flexibility with reduced fuel cycle cost.
KNF ensures the quality of nuclear fuel through a comprehensive Quality Assurance Program which complies with national and international quality assurance requirements as specified in Korea Atomic Energy Law, ISO 9001:2000 and International Atomic Energy Agency Standards.
KNF also has ability to do fuel related services including in-core fuel management, core follow activities, fuel inspection and repair, and economic viability analyses. KNF is able to provide products and services to any customer in the world under very attractive conditions in every aspect.

KNF has a plan to design and construct the zirconium alloy tubing plant for PWR fuel tube supply. KNF will complete this localization program by the end of 2008 and start the commercial operation of the tubing plant at the beginning of 2009. The production capacity of dry conversion & pelletizing process facilities will be increased to accommodate the increasing domestic demand of PWR fuel by the end of 2007. KNF installed the Gd rod production line for PWR fuel in 2002. In addition, KNF has a plan to install the Gd pellet production line with the production capacity of 30 ton/year by the end of 2005.
