KEPCO Nuclear Fuel Receives Presidential Award in Nationwide Quality Control Circle Contest

KEPCO Nuclear Fuel (CEO: Jeong Sang-bong) announced on August 31 that it received the Presidential Award in the 46th Nationwide Quality Control Circle Contest held in EXCO, Daegu from August 24 to 28.

A total of 307 teams selected from preliminary contests at the city or provincial levels participated in the Nationwide Quality Control Circle Contest jointly hosted by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy and the Daegu Metropolitan City and organized by the Korean Standards Association. Due to the recently introduced Social Distancing Level 2 owing to the increasing number of COVID-19 patients, the presentation review was replaced by a documentation review.

The Jjangu Quality Control Circle in the Fuel Production Department of KEPCO Nuclear Fuel participated in the category of state-run company practice improvement under the theme "Reducing the Rate of Nonconforming Products by Improving the Heavy Water Reactor Cladding Tube Process" and won the Silver Award, which is one of the Presidential Awards. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held during the Korea National Quality Award, which will take place in COEX, Seoul in November.

Meanwhile, KEPCO Nuclear Fuel has been selected as a competitive quality company for 19 years in a row since 2001 for its improved performance thanks to its systematic innovation activities such as KEPCO NF Innovative Production System (KIPS) and Six Sigma, which put safety and quality first.
