▣ KEPCO Nuclear Fuel (KNF) held a board of directors (BOD) meeting on June 30 and decided to reform the Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) Committee under it to reinforce sustainable management in earnest.

▣ The ESG Committee is an organization that will strengthen the BOD’s professionalism and function on major decisions for the company. It is formed of two non-executive directors and one standing director, and appointed a standing auditor as an advisory committee member to contribute objective perspective and expertise to the Committee.

▣ The ESG Committee plans to play a role in ▲ management suggestions for ESG strategies and related business plans, ▲ preliminary review of BOD decisions on ESG, ▲ deliberation of key business issues on ESG, and ▲ inspection of ESG business performance.

▣ Moreover, the company plans to form the ESG-level task force for the practical ESG transformation and systematic implementation by diagnosing ESG risks of the entire business value chain and identifying the areas that need improvement.

▣ KEPCO NF President Choi Ik-soo said at the BOD meeting, “It is important to build the sustainable management system to reassure the public considering the business characteristics of operating nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities,”and stressed, “We will do our best to fulfill the responsibilities as the nuclear operator and the role of a public institution through ESG management.”

▣ On June 28, KEPCO NF’s management and labor jointly declared the “2021 CEO’s Key Businesses,” including the transition to ESG management, implementation of new environmental conservation businesses, and R&D to dramatically improve nuclear power plant safety and environmental factors.
