| KNF Receives Minister of Environment Award for Excellence in Greenhouse Gas Target Management |

▣ KEPCO Nuclear Fuel (President Jung Chang-Jin) was selected as an excellent institution for greenhouse gas reduction performance and received the Minister of Environment Award at the 'Public Sector Greenhouse Gas Target Management 2023 Performance Report Conference' hosted by the Ministry of Environment on the 17th.
▣ Public sector target institutions must reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 compared to the baseline emissions (average emissions from 2007-2009) in accordance with the Framework Act on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth for Climate Crisis Response, and must set annual reduction targets and actively implement reduction activities and performance management.
▣ KEPCO NF improved building energy efficiency through harmonic elimination technology application, expansion of centralized heating and cooling systems, and replacement with high-efficiency transformers. The company also increased greenhouse gas reduction rates by improving power usage efficiency through implementation of real-time power monitoring systems, expansion of ESS (Energy Storage Systems), and the improvement of laser welding equipment.
▣ Furthermore, the company has implemented various internal campaigns such as “Energy Diet 10” and “Carbon Diet”, eliminating paper cups, zero food waste activities, and emptying email boxes, while practicing company-wide efforts for sustainable management as part of “Labor-Management Joint ESG Management” through industrial resource recycling to create an eco-friendly circular economy.
▣ Through these multifaceted efforts, KEPCO NF was selected as an achieving institution in target management for 10 consecutive years from 2011 to 2020, ever since implementing greenhouse gas and energy target management. The company was honored with the Minister of Environment's institutional commendation as an excellent institution for the net greenhouse gas reduction rate by scale in 2023, following similar recognitions in 2018 and 2021.
▣ President Jung Chang-Jin stated, “We will continue to recognize the importance of carbon neutrality and play a leading role in responding to climate change through various eco-friendly value-based efforts such as continuous process improvement and technology development to achieve strategic goals. We will fulfill our social responsibilities as a public institution to ensure public health, create a clean environment, and secure sustainability”.
