KNF (CEO Jeong Sang-bong) announced that the company is accredited by KOLAS as an internationally accredited testing institute for the impact test of  nuclear fuel spacer grids.

Impact test of nuclear fuel spacer grids refers to a precise testing that measures various factors that occur when spacer grids, a component binding fuel rods and guide tubes, are impacted by external force. Accreditation of such testing means the company won an international recognition of its nuclear fuel performance testing capability.

CEO Jeong Sang-bong said, “Our company’s technology development and innovation leads to  safety and trust of nuclear power plant. . Going forward, with accumulated technology and expertise, we will extend both our domestic and international business field  to promote innovation and growth for the future.

KEPCO Nuclear Fuel has been accredited as an internationally accredited testing institutein two sectors --internal pressure drop testing (2013) and nuclear fuel spring characteristics testing (2016).

※ Reference ① KOLAS & Internationally accredited testing institute   □ KOLAS (Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme) is administered by the Korean Agency of Technology and Standards (KATS) and is responsible for national standards system, safety and quality of commodities, standards and testing, research and support for the development of industrial infrastructure technology, operation of accreditation system of calibration, testing and inspecting bodies, and cooperation with international organizations

□ Internationally accredited testing institute refers to an accreditation awarded by an international accreditation organization that officially recognizes a testing institute’s capability of testing in a specific area after examining its quality control system and technology capability.

※ Reference ② - Impact Testing of Nuclear Fuel Spacer Grid   □ Purpose: Testing impact characteristics of spacer grids   □ Effect: The impact testing evaluates mechanical strength of a spacer grid, as the impact characteristics of a spacer grid is one of core functional factors that must be considered for design and development of spacer grid, a core component of nuclear fuel.
