KEPCO NF manufactures and supplies nuclear fuels needed for PWR & PHWR (CANDU) type. Nuclear power plant uses nuclear fission of uranium fuel, while other power plants that run on fossil fuels burn coal, oil or natural gas to generate electricity. Natural uranium is a mixture largely of two isotopes: uranium-238 (U-238), accounting for around 99.3% and uranium-235 (U-235) about 0.7%. About 2-5% of low-enriched uranium is used for PWR whereas the natural one is used for PHWR.

We have been fabricating PWR nuclear fuel since 1989 and PHWR additionally since 1998. Our manufacturing capacity proudly enables us to offer 550MTU for PWR and 400MTU for PHWR use to entire nuclear power plants in Korea. For overseas use, KEPCO NF has been supplying fuel assemblies to nuclear power plants in UAE since 2017.
