KEPCO NF, Launching its joint-venture company, KWN into commercial operation
- Expect 10 million-dollar import substitution effect a year

▣ KEPCO NF(President Kim, Ki Hak) clarified that it comes to expect 10 million-dollar import substitution effect a year as Korean-American joint-venture company, KWN, started its commercial operation from the 19th.

▣ Not only did KEPCO NF accomplish the localization of CEA(Control Element Assembly) that it had depended entirely on imports so far, but also it secured stable supply competence as KWN(KW Nuclear Components) lately started its commercial operation. Also KEPCO NF has a prospect that it can make its position secure even more at the global nuclear energy market.

▣ President Kim, Ki Hak said "that KWN's commercial operation has a meaning to domestically secure manufacturing facilities of CEA that had not been secured and to build up the self-supply system of core components required for Korean standard nuclear power plant," and clarified "that KEPCO NF accomplished the outstanding feat of completely localizing a series of technology related to nuclear fuels with the final localization of Control Element Assembly."

▣ KWN(CEO Kim, Seon Doo) is a professional company of Control Element Assembly for nuclear power plants that KEPCO NF collaborated with WEC in the U.S.A. and established in the end of 2008. Control Element Assembly that will be produced through KWN from now on will be exclusively exported to CE-type nuclear power plant within the U.S.A. as well as will be supplied to KSNP in operation in Korea.

▣ CEA is a component that is installed on the upper part of a nuclear reactor to control its reaction. It is a core component that controls thermal output and core reactivity by absorbing a neutron in case of nuclear fission and plays a role to stop the operation of a nuclear reactor by automatically dropping the reactor when an accident occurs.
