The development of nuclear fuel tube manufacturing technology helped KEPCO NF to achieve 100% localization in the supply of nuclear fuel components and establish a foundation to develop technology for advanced alloys.

Aiming for technology independence and the stable supply of zirconium alloy tubes with economy, we successfully built our tube manufacturing facility in December 2008 that boasts a manufacturing capacity of 1,400 km/year covering the demand of more than 20 nuclear power plants for light-water reactors, after about 6 years of technology development of localized tube technology. We have fully met the domestic demand since 2009.

We have achieved 100% localization of nuclear fuel components supply for light-water reactors and established the foundation for developing advanced alloy technology, with the import substitution reaching around 40 billion won a year. Based on our outstanding technology, we exported locally self developed and manufactured tubes to the Westinghouse Electric Company in the United States in 2011. We are currently exporting all tubes for nuclear power plants in the UAE, and have gained global competitiveness in tube manufacturing technology for nuclear fuel.

Furthermore, we have also built the NSA plant (Nonsan Special Alloy Plant) in the general industrial complex II in Nonsan City, expanding the tube manufacturing capacity to 1,800 km/year.
