KEPCO Nuclear Fuel Co. (KNFC, CEO Sang-bong Jeong) rolled up sleeves on 21st to take a lead in overcoming the challenges in nationwide blood supply and join the precious life saving efforts.

The official told that about 400 employees or 1/3 of all the company employees, more than double from the previous years, applied in advance for participation in the blood donation event. Many employees fully engaged in blood donation at the KNFC main office and the Gwanpyeong-dong TSA Plant from 9 am to 5 pm with 5 blood donation vehicles provided by the Daejeon Sejong Chungnam Blood Center, Korean Red Cross.

The participants took precautions against infection risks by donating blood after careful examination of blood donation eligibility through completing questionnaires in advance to prevent infection and undergoing check for any previous overseas trips taken.

While taking ‘achieving social value’ as its management policy, KNFC has regularly engaged in blood drive every year since 2004, being recognized as a responsible social enterprise as it received an appreciation plaque from the blood center last year for the employee’s active participation. Also, the company donated masks and hand sanitizers to the community welfare facilities, Songgang Social Welfare Center and Yuseong Welfare Center for the Disabled, on 12th to help prevent the local vulnerable communities from the spreading of COVID-19, delivering additional 2,400 masks to the welfare facilities on 21st.

“I appreciate the employees who fully participated in the noble life sharing activity of blood donation under the challenging time for blood supplies caused by COVID-19, and hope that our sharing helps mitigate the short blood supply,” said CEO Sang-bong Jeong, adding “KNFC will continue to serve and share with the community to become a public enterprise that practices social values.”
