KEPCO NF Awarded ISO 14001 Certification For the first time in Korean industry, the company offers RDS and management technique to treat contaminated soil in the drains.Environmental management system standard signifies company’s capabilities for nuclear power exports and its eco-friendly image President Kim announced on July 17 that KEPCO NF received ISO 14001:2004 certification, the international environmental management system standard, from the Korean Standards Association. The company had zero “non-conformances” and zero “areas of concern” during the certification auditing process, such as on document review and local screening examination. The certification is valid until June, 2016 for 3 years. With ISO 14001, KEPCO NF now can meet the international bid requirements, and provide the effective and systematic management of environmental risk along with enhancing the image as an eco-friendly company. Meanwhile, ISO 14001 is a part of ISO 14000 family that was established by the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee: the family addresses various aspects of environmental management, and provides practical tools for companies and organizations looking to identify and control their environmental impact and constantly improve their environmental performance. ISO 14001:2004 can be called an environmental version of ISO 9000 family as it focuses on environmental management systems. |
