A ceremony marking the 30th anniversary gets under way at the KEPCO NF auditorium on November 9.

KEPCO NF held a ceremony to mark the 30th anniversary at its auditorium on November 9 with officials and staff in attendance. The Company was established in 1982 as a government-invested firm dedicated to facilitating the localization of nuclear fuel and the independence of atomic energy technology. KEPCO NF has since worked tirelessly to design nuclear fuels and promote nuclear energy autonomy. The Company successfully developed both advanced nuclear fuel and original nuclear fuel products. The Company went further and created fundamental technology for reactor core design, while exporting nuclear fuel components. KEPCO NF is due to export nuclear fuel to UAE, thereby making a great contribution to a stable supply of electricity and national economic development.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, President &CEO Kim Ki-Hak stressed that KEPCO NF will remain committed to successful completion of its new on-going projects, while exploring new business. These efforts, he said, will help create synergies and upgrade profitability. “We will work hard to build a global leading nuclear fuel company that dominates the global nuclear fuel market as a result of the completion of our original nuclear fuel technology,” he stressed.

KEPCO NF intended to stage a large-scale anniversary ceremony, but scaled down the event in light of Korea’s difficult economic reality. The money saved from the downsized ceremony was consumed for the purchase of vehicles manufactured exclusively for the disabled. The Company donated the vehicles, which are worth 40 million won, to a welfare institution for disabled people in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon City.
