▣ KEPCO Nuclear Fuel (KNF, CEO Choi Ik-soo) received a commendation from the Minister of Science and ICT for its performance and achievements in implementing R&D investment recommendations for public institutions and investing in the R&D sector in 2022.

▣ Since expanding its R&D investment ratio in recent years, KNF in 2022 invested more than the amount recommended for R&D investments by the Ministry of Science and ICT, and its achievements are as follows: (i) production of commercial-scale prototypes of accident tolerant fuels, which was done successfully with the stand-alone technology, and preparations for process qualification tests; (ii) construction of a database for authorization for commercial use of its proprietary nuclear fuel material (HANA); and (iii) 8.12% investment in developing and constructing a test facility for single pipe heat exchangers.

▣ CEO Choi Ik-soo said, “By carrying out regular in-house research projects and by participating in the government-led innovative small modular reactor R&D projects, we will continue our investments in R&D."
